FENCING
The fencing system you choose will depend on factors
like the sport being played on the court, whether you need rebound,
the strength requirements and, of course, budget.
Chainlink fences
Chainlink fences with angle iron or tubular posts are
mainly recommended when you need to keep balls on the court, but not
where you need the fence to rebound the ball back into play. They are
suitable for tennis, netball and basketball, but not recommended for
football because the fence will quick deform.
Pre-galvanised weld mesh rolls
These are a cost-effective alternative
to the more durable and secure mesh panels, but they do provide increased
strength and security when compared to chainlink. Typically hung on
galvanised rectangular hollow section posts, the electronically welded
mesh roll has a standard 50x50mm mesh size and can be powder-coated
if required. They are ideal for hockey pitch surrounds and sports that
don’t require rebound capability.
Rigid weldmesh panel fencing
This kind of fending provides an extremely strong and
durable perimeter for ball retention, rebound and security, especially
for high-impact sports like football and basketball. The standard 200x50mm
mesh size, with dual 8 or 6mm horizontal bars welded either side of
a single 6mm vertical bar, comes in a standard 2.52m wide panel and
is clamped onto heavy duty galvanised and powder-coated rectangular
hollow section posts.
The M8 security bolt-through, full-height clamp strips
ensure the panels are secure from theft and loosening from repeated
ball impact. Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber anti-vibration
washers can be used to reduce noise if required.
Reinforced rebound panels
These panels can be used to replace old-fashioned,
easily-damaged or rotten wooden rebound boards. They can reinforce the
bottom 1.2m of rigid mesh panels, providing additional rebound strength
and durability. Two dual horizontal bars are added to this section to
reduce the mesh size to 67x50mm.
Standard heights for this system range from 2m to 6m.
Variations on wire thicknesses, colours (Green RAL 6005 is the standard)
and gates are available.
