Our sports surfacing project for Private Client, Chedworth
A private client in Chedworth, Gloucestershire approached us seeking professional advice on how to restore their old, dilapidated tennis court. Following an initial site visit from Sports Surfacing Solutions, we assessed the extent of the work required and were delighted to accept this challenging project.
The restoration process began by identifying and addressing specific areas of the court where the surface was beyond repair. These sections required the removal of the existing surface and the correction of the underlying stone sub-base to ensure a stable and long-lasting foundation.
Once the sub-base was properly corrected, a fresh macadam overlay was applied across the court. This formed a durable and even playing surface, ready for the next phase of the refurbishment.
To enhance the court’s appearance and playability, the newly overlaid surface was colour sprayed with an attractive acrylic two-tone green finish. This not only improved the visual appeal but also provided the necessary surface characteristics for quality tennis play.
As a final addition, a new 2.75 metre high chain-link fence system was installed around the court, offering both security and an enhanced boundary to complete the comprehensive revitalisation of the facility.
Deep clean with a pressure wash and moss treatment to remove moss, algae, dirt and detritus away, plus addition of weed kill to ensure preparedness for the macadam.
Rebuilt areas of the court including importing, laying and rolling reduced fines MOT Type 3 stone, specifically to allow the attenuation of water through and into the sub-base for natural soakaway. To the same areas, we based this out with a suitable grade macadam before the laying the surface course.
Installed new 915 x 150 x 50mm pre-cast concrete kerb edging details
Removed of old tennis posts sockets and installed new ones
Laying of new macadam surface course for tennis and rolled to ensure a level and close knit finish
Two coats of acrylic colour coating with lines for tennis in slip resistant line paint
Supplied and installed new 2.75m and 2.4m high 3.15/2.24 gauge green pvc coated 50 x 50 mesh chain link fencing supported on galvanised and green powder coated angle iron intermediary and corner posts.
Painted in RAL Green 6005 masonry paint the existing blockwork wall.
